Supporting Literacy and STEM at Spookyville 2025

Spookyville was a hit again this year! Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds transformed into a world of Halloween fun, and we were proud to help make it happen. Through our ongoing partnership with the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, the Annette Urso Rickel Foundation sponsored the Stories and STEM program for another successful year of learning, discovery, and smiles.

Over the course of the event, the Literacy Coalition team distributed 3,950 garden-themed STEM books and 3,000 Living Seed Necklace activity kits, connecting reading with science in creative, hands-on ways.

Books included:
• Hello, World! From Seed to Pumpkin (Baby–Toddler): 500 copies
• Seed, Sprout, Pumpkin Pie (Ages 3–5): 500 copies
• Rosa’s Big Sunflower Experiment (Ages 3–5, bilingual): 900 copies
• Green, Green Garden – Little Critter (Ages 4–8): 500 copies
• The Magic School Bus Plants Seeds (Ages 6–9): 900 copies
• The Secret Explorers and the Plant Poachers (Ages 7–9): 225 copies
• Tales From the Crisper (Ages 8–11+): 425 copies

Events like Spookyville capture exactly what we love to support — joyful learning that brings literacy and STEM together for children and families across Palm Beach County.
